Vera Manzoni, born in Lisbon in 1978.
From a very young age, she always had a fascination with everything related to body adornments.
She grew up among beads and necklaces. Her grandfather, Henrique Batalha, was one of the partners of the Casa Batalha.
Regardless of the family business being related to bijou her fascination was for something more precious, Jewelry. In 1995 she started the Goldsmiths and Metals course at the António Arroio Secondary School, and attended AR.CO for two years in the jewelry course. She graduated in jewelry design at the Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Porto.
MORE stands for bijou, which she was born knowing, being what triggered the interest for jewelry. Her work is then divided into these two areas. In jewelry she makes pieces by order, always having a collection on display in the studio.
“When you don’t dress like everyone else then you don’t have to think like everyone else.”
~ Iris Apfel
Minimalism and discretion are not strong in these parts, since the jeweler on duty rarely resists the temptations of color and apparatus.
The pieces are also not always classic necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.
Here we can see walking out the door, hair accessories, complements for a party dress and even there were times when Vera’s creative genius gave rise to hats and bags.
The increase in orders and the growth of the Vera Manzoni Jewelry & More Studio did not keep the creative out from the workbench. Welding, filing and encrusting are tasks that still remain next to this Lisbon born craftswoman.
